Condition leather steering wheel?

I see a lots of great information on conditioning leather\pleather seats. No one has mentioned if it is a good or bad idea to clean and condition the leather steering wheel?

I have an new 04 Lariat with a tan leather wheel that will probably start to get very dirty before summer is over.

Any recomendations?

Thanks.

I think that it is important to take care of the steering wheel because #1 all of the perspiration/dirt from your hands, and #2 it is always in direct sunlight. Just make sure that you dont use something that will cause it to be slippery. I'm using Meguires gold class on mine and a cotton terry cloth to take away the slip. I'm sure that you will get better advice but this is what I do.

My PERSONAL PREFERENCE is to clean with a warm wash-rag and follow with a quality conditioner.

Whatever you use on your steering wheel is your decision but, I'd definately discourage using anything that could be potentially 'slick'.

Thank you.

I agree, trying to keep the wheel from getting slipery was my concern.

I took the advice of a fellow board member a month or two ago (forget his screename) with cleaning the leather steering wheel that Ive been very pleased with:

Saddle Soap.

After applying, wipe down with clean, lint free (microfiber) towel, and its supple, not slippery. Of course, I didnt drive it for about an hour or two after cleaning it, but no problems. Keeps it like new.

You may want to give it a whirl - has worked for me.
