What's going on?

I washed my truck today and all the shine and swirl freeness is gone. It has only been a week since I treated my truck with Meguire's #9,#7, and #26, and it seems to be all gone. It cant be that 9 hours of work is only good for 1 week can it? Am I doing something wrong? Please help I sank around 70 bucks for all the products and am very disappointed in the how it looks now.

What did you use to wash your truck? You didn’t use regular dish soap did you?

jcma81,

Several questions...............

First, same as 01........... what car wash did you use?

Second, if it's a good car wash, did you measure it out as directed, or just dump a big "glob" in the bucket. Some car washes mixed too strong can strip wax.

Did you use a good QD afterwards? Some car washes leave a light film on the paint (especially expensive washes, and washes used to heavy). A good QD can remove the soap film, and revive the surface.

I didn't measure it but I think I go a bit stingy when pouring out the soap. I may have to try measuring out the soap next time. Last week I was so happy with the results I treated my dad's Expidition and GMC van to the Meguire's treatment, heck I even did my brother's explorer. But after this wash I was very disappointed, all that work seemingly down the drain.

Well, I'm not sure what to tell you. I know that the #26 has pretty decent durability............. say 4 - 6 weeks or so if properly maintained. It's not the "king" of durability, but certainly more than a week.

Make sure you are mixing 1 ounce of the Gold Class shampoo to around 1 gallon of water.

You might also have a "hard" water situation. Hard water can strip even the toughest waxes. Still, you should have noticed that with any product that you are using.

Try and give it a quick QD'ing to see if that perks it up. Also, try and pick up some NXT car wash, as I believe the NXT wash has softeners to help with hard water.

Other than that, I'm out of suggestions.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick replies

Thanks for the suggestions Boss, it has kind of got me worried. I Ended up putting another coat of # 26 on and it helped but it doesn't look like it did the first time.

jcma81,

It sounds like you did something to strip the wax in the washing process?

Hope it works out for ya?
