Can any one please describe how to remove chrome-look mirror backs and replace them with paintable ones?
Is this an easy swap?

It was easy once I called the Ford parts department. They told me just to pop off the mirror. I replaced my chrome mirror caps with painted ones on my 2002 SuperCrew. The mirrors are electric. I was scared at first but once I did the first mirror the second was much easier. Once you pop off the mirror, you will see a few clips. If I remember correctly, there are 2 male parts if you will that go back into the 2 female parts. I used a screw driver and needle nose pliers to put the mirror back on. I know I posted the process on a message board last year. I will post it for you if I can find it.
