Question Paint touch up recommendations

Howdy fellahs,
I've got kind of a dumb question, but I'm a first time new vehicle owner....

I've got a few scratches in my paint...most are not noticeable unless you know they are there. One of them is a pretty good scratch, down to the primer.
I'm VERY **** about my truck and really want to have these things fixed by a pro.
Should I go to the dealership and let them try to fix it or should I go to a reputable private shop? What can I expect price wise?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Not being a paint expert, but being an expert in being **** about my truck I would suggest you first see a professional detailer in your area. One with a great reputation. They may be able to buff out some of the scratches and may know how to repair the one down to primer or be able to recommend someone that can.

Price wise it is hard to say. If you know what kind of reputation your dealer has with paint repair then that’s another good place to start and get a price. Then see a few professional paint shops and get their information. Sometimes it can be a nice price difference but don’t go cheap to save money. Go with reputation.

Someone may come along and have a way you can do it yourself. Unless your real good with a buffer or repairs I would recommend leaving it to the experts…

Rock chips are one thing... scratches are another.

I could guide you through a rock chip repair (as taught to me by Intel486) but, I've tried a scratch and wasn't very successful so...

My suggestion is a good body shop... sorry.

I have so many scratches on my black truck from my apartment complex's very narrow parking spaces. I plan to take my truck to a professional detailer when we finally buy a house. At the rate things are going that's probably another two years away, the truck will be just about paid for and I can't think of a better time to have it detailed so it will be 'like new' again!

Apartments are the hardest place in the world to keep your vehicle looking sharp...

I know, I lived in one for about 5 years myself...
