Window Trim Care

Any advice/suggestions on caring for the window trim...

I've got a 02' 'Screw, has that satin finish black plastic-esque trim around windows.

Wondering what is the best way to protect it, make it look nice at same time.

Was considering using 303 on it...

Thanks
Dan

Is it plastic or rubber? If it is rubber use some Meguiars Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner Conditioner which also works on plastic however it doesnt last long on plastic.

My vote goes to 303 Aerospace. It is well know by boaters for its great UV protection. It also dries 100% to the touch. I really like it for interior dressing also.

Hey dantheman1973, how 'bout a little different idea. I managed to get rid of most of the black lower moldings on my windows by replacing the stock SuperCrew moldings with those for a 2001 Lincoln Blackwood. They're a direct fit for the SuperCrew and are mostly chrome! Here's what they look like installed on my truck.

I'm with many of the others who've posted here already, in that I use 303 Protectant on the remaining molding rubber (and all other exterior black moldings). Just thought I'd offer you another potential mod for your truck.

The two listed in this thread are the most favored, Meguiars #40 and 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Thanks Intel! Can't take all the credit for this mod, another member (Dufunnel) had done it to his King Ranch and I liked it so much that I had to do it to mine. Was definitely one of the easiest mods I've done to date, and I think it works well with the 3" chrome nerf steps.

I am digging those in chrome..

My truck is black, with chrome nerf bars... so I think it could really accentuate nicely.

Any comments on what a set (4) would cost... knowing that they are Lincoln, would seem that they are a little on the pricey side...

Thanks
Dan

Dan.... I'd agree that they are a little pricey, but it's a very unique mod that very few folks have on their trucks. At any rate, if you take the plunge, expect to spend around $200 for the four piece set. I got mine through www.oemfordparts.com (a.k.a. Southwest Ford out of Texas), which turned out to be quite a bit less expensive than my local Ford & Lincoln dealers. If you go for it, please post pics after you've installed them. I love the way they look on a Blackwood truck, so I think they'd look sweet on your black truck too! Good Luck.

If you can get the part number from someone you can also check out www.fordpartsonline.com they have very good prices up to 40% off normal pricing. You need to use Microsoft Explorer to navigate the site peoperly though.

I knew I should've listed them in my last post, so since Richard asked, here's the part #'s for all four moldings.

Drivers Front -------> YL7Z-7821452-AB
Passenger Front ----> YL7Z-7821453-AB
Drivers Rear --------> 2C6Z-1625597-AAA
Passenger Rear -----> 2C6Z-1625596-AAA

If you find them for 40% less than the $200 I paid, please let me know. I shopped quite a bit before buying mine, and $200 was the best pricing I found. Good luck.

Looks like they have this part for about 20.00

Passenger Rear -----> 2C6Z-1625596-AAA

And this one for about 80.00

I am assuming the other number are simalr in price so that adds up to about 200.00 I have talked to the guys that run www.fordpartsonline.com and they have told me that on some things they are much cheaper than the local dealer and other stuff theya re the same which is why you should ALWAYS SHOP AROUND.

It's basically 'yanking' the stock ones out and pushing the new ones in place. My understanding is that they simply 'snap' down in there and don't have anything other than some clips holding them in there...

Another KR owner (dufunnel) did this mod quite a while back... definately looks good. Pricey though.
