What would you recommend as a good car 'wash' liquid, and where can you get it? I'd like something that could be bought in the gallon size since I don't like having to buy this stuff frequently. Been using Meguiars Gold Class Wash on all three of my vehicles, but would like another option.
Also, would like a suggestion as to want type of pads to use for hand polishing / waxing? If you could also indicate where to get them it would be appreciated.

BigDeal,
Not a pro detailer, but here's my 2 cents. The GC car wash is an excellent car wash, and I doubt that you need anything better, especially for the price. If you feel the need to try a better car wash, I would suggest Pinnacle Bodywork Shampo. However, it's about 4 times the price of GC.
As for applicators, the Meguiars foam applicators are very good, and you can get 12 for 5.88 in there cataglog. Top of the Line's website has similar applicators for .50 a piece. If you get either one, don't forget to trim the hard edges of the applicators before using!

I'm using Gold Class myself. Great product in my opinion. I know this isn't really answering your question directly but, you should be aware that GC is available in a gallon size as well. I bought mine at Target.

The largest of those three bottles is the gallon size. Meguiars website ( www.meguiars.com )lists it at $9.99 (which is what I paid for mine I think).

I use the Meguairs Gold Class and like it very much Suds up well rinses well also. Now I have a question for all who are useing the PC. I got my PC today along with my Classic Motoring Pads that are supose to be 6-1/2" however they are only 6 inches there site says to use a 6" contour backing plate that came with my PC however the Backing Plate is the saem size as the pads So is it ok for me to use these pads or should i send them back and get the 7" Polishing waxing pads. Or should i buy a 5" Backing plate?
Thanks in advance,

Richard,
You might want to get the 5" backing plate. Either the Meguiar's backing place, or better yet the Diskit backing plate that I mentioned to you before.
Also, if you get the 5" plate, you might want to get the 5" counter-weight, depending on which weight came in the machine.

BOSS_429 the PC came with both counter weights. The 5" one is installed so I should use the 5" Weight and buy the 5" backing plate to use with the 6" Pads or do i use the 6" weight with the 5" backing plate and 6" Pads? I opened the pads then the PC and saw the 6" Backing plate and was thinking o boy one wrong move here and there goes a big scratch in the vehicle. I forgot which backing plate you refered me to can you tell me what site it was on again the Meguiars one seems to be a bit expensive. So from what i understand i need the 5"counter weight and backing plate but can use the 6" Pads with them. I found two backing plates at Top of The Line that seem to be good and a bit less in price than the Megiaurs and the one at Premium Auto Care.

Richard,
Apparently the Meguiar's plate is two-piece plate. A couple of people have had them come apart. The Diskit doesn't seem to have that problem. The guy over at Premium Auto Care recommends that one!
