Glass Cleaner & Chrome Wheel Protectant

Here is a topic that may have been covered but i woul like to know what everyone uses for cleaning there windows and has anyone tried the Autoglym Glass Polishing Kit from Classice Mototring? The for any and all with Chrome wheels what does everyone use to clean and then protect there wheels with. I tried to get some stuff called Wheel Wax but the place i was going to purchase it from doesn't carry it due to problems getting it from the actaul maker of the product?

Richard D,

For polishing the "exterior" of the windshield, I like to use an old bottle of Bon-Ami cleanser (the mildest one) that I still have. Wet the windshield, apply a little Bon-Ami to a wet wash mitt, and scrub the windshied and rinse! To keep the windshield clean I also use Stoners IG, or a product called SprayWay.

There are almost as many chrome polishes as paint polishes. Anyhow, you can put some wax on the chrome to protect them after polishing. A sealant like Zaino (what I use), or Klasse will protect better, because of it's ability to withstand more heat than a regular wax.

Hope this helps.

BOSS_429 I have used the Bon Ami on many occasions and don't find it really helps all that much it does get some of the dirt and such off but I was thinking of trying the Autoglym system to try and get window to be even better, mainly the windshield. I also use the Stoner IG and like the results most of the time it does tend to leave a residue at times I have found the key with it is to make sure the glass is cool and in the shade and to use a terry cloth towel that does not have fabric softner in it. When I wash my rags I never use fabric softner or drier sheets as it seems to leave a residue. I think you have mention use of the Microfiber towels and was wondering how you like them over Terry Cloth towels? Abd which ones you are using if you do use them? Has anyone ever seen the Wheel Wax that i mentioned? Tirerack sells it.

Richard,

I highly recommend the MF's for windows! Sometimes I use a clay bar on my windshield to get a lot of the crap off. I will sometimes put some Zaino's Z2 on it to really give it some "POP". Also, a good non-carnauba QD works nice on the exterior windows.

Never used the Wheel wax that you're mentioning!

Pro's Glass Polish is a mild polish for windows. The problem with glass on cars is you can do too much polishing and make looking out the window like looking out of a fish bowl.

For glass cleaner I use yosteve microfiber towels (yosteve.com) and Pro's Aerosol Glass Cleaner. It is cheap, doesn't take a lot, and doesn't smell like alcohol.

Microfiber is really what makes the difference. Getting some good, non-linting towels will really help.

Yosteve.com; Jt international (jtintern@hotmail.com) and Pakshak all make great MF towels.

Has anyone tried the Griots Glass Ceaner and there Chrome Polish? Looks like i may want to get some Microfiber cloths for cleaning the window I guess these things are the new best thing since the Terrry Cloth for removeing wax and polish also. So another question I will ask is what MF's are everyone using for Removal of Wax,polish?

I use sprayway glass cleaner. It's what they use in fine art picture frame galleries. It's also safe for window tint film.
