Bumper Rust/Warranty

My 2002 is aproaching 9 months old and I noticed the rear chrome bumper is rusting badly. I'm sure it would clean up, but I'm thinking it's defective and now that it's rusted, the rust will just come right back. Has anyone else had this problem that could tell me if I'm going to have trouble with warranty issues? Here's a couple pics...

Any advice before I call the dealer is appriciated.

Thanks,

Matt

that is definaetly a warranty item! they should replace that no questions asked i would think.
if they don't, although they should, try some mothers mag and aluminum polish on it. not their chrome polish, the mag and aluminum paste polish, that stuff is the shiznit
when you get your new bumper, keep a good coat of wax on it to advoid any future problems.

awsome truck BTW love the color and the rims

i thought the Ford rust warranty was a "RUST THROUGH" warranty. I thought that meant it had to be a hole????

i'd still take it out there. the worst they can do is say no.
worth a shot, and if they do refuse, i think some mag and aluminum polish from mothers will get it off....hopefully. looks just like barely surface rust now, but do something quick before it gets worse

Thanks for the info guys. The warranty thing might work out as a guy I work with got new wheels for his Ranger due to rust.

Damn, rust already on a new truck?
I've never seen rust happen that quickly before.

Please keep us posted on what the outcome is.

Good luck

My 97 and my 2000 looked just like your picture after their first winter. They never got worse, and you can clean it up for the summer with your favorite chrome cleaner/polish.

My current truck is 2 months old and I can see rust on the bumper. If you live in the rust belt where they use tons of road salt I don't see how you can avoid it. Just keep it clean once winter is over.

My '03 STX has a chrome tailpipe extension that came from the factory. Its already got rust spots on it and it was built on Jan 15, so its not very old, heh.
