Meguiars
Hey,
I washed and waxed my truck this weekend, and man was it dirty. When I washed it, it took me over an hour to just to wash it. Since I washed it, I figured I might as well go ahead and wax it to. Last month, I tried using another brand that said it would last for up to 12 months. Well you could definitley tell that it needed a better wax. So, I brought Meguiars Gold Class Liquid car wax and put it on today. That stuff was great. By the time that I was finished my truck was smooth as silk. And it shines too. It looks almost like the day that I brought it.
I have a question though. Have any of you ever used it, and if so, how long can I expect it to last before I need to wax it again?
So far It looks like it will be good stuff. It was almost dark by the time that I got finished with it or I would have had some pictures. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, maybe I will be able to take some pics.

I use gold class twice a month in the warmer months of the year. Shines up really well for the decent price tag it has! Its been since the first of november since i got a coat of wax on it and it rained today, still beads up very well. I use it on everyting (doorjambs, wheels, and believe it or not, it does make the windows glare quite a bit. Try it and see for yourself.)
Overall im pleased with it. It does help to put 2 or more coats on at a time, just wait a couple hours between coats.

I'm a HUGE advocate of Meguiars products and, in fact, when it comes to the majority of the car care products on the shelf in the garage, 90%+ of them are Meguiars.
I haven't used the Gold Class thus, I can't attest for longevity of the product but, I can tell you about Meguiars Premium Paint Protection (part of the Mirror Glaze Professional Line) or PPP for short. I've used PPP for well over 2 years now and have had nothing but success and a long lasting deep shine to show for it.

I can't really tell you how long it lasts because I'm waxxing it, on average, around once per month (just because I love detailing it).
I would guess, depending upon your atmospheric conditions (ie: sun, rain, etc), that you should get several solid months of excellent protection.
You're going to be bombarded with people talking about what wax they love and use. My suggestion; go with what you like best. For me, it's going to be a Meguiars product.

Meguiar's Gold Class is a good, deep wet look shine wax.
The durability isn't too good though. It is probably close to a month.
If you want more durability, then go with Meguiar's #26. It is in their professional line but Pepboys carries some of their pro line. One Grand Blitz is also another good carnauba wax that gives a good shine and great durability.

paulv107,
The Gold Class gives a very nice shine, but it's durability is limited. The Medallion that RockPick uses is generaly considered a bit better product, with more durability. Meguiar's #26 paste carnauba seems to last a bit longer than both of the above.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to wax my truck and have been hearing about their products and wanted to try it. We don't have many varieties to choose from around here, except for store brands or brands that are not much good. It never hurts to try something, right? It might work good in some conditions and not in others. So, I'll just wait till next month rolls around and see what it is looking like. If it doesn't last, I will see if I can get the #26 and try that. I'll wait and see what happens.
Thanks guys

Also, when using Meguiar's #26 make sure you get it on the paint thinly and don't let it haze too long. If it is thick or sits awhile, then it is somewhat difficult to remove. A spray bottle with water in it will help remove it if it gets difficult.
Yep, and I would add................. if you're going to go with the #26, I would put a coat of #7 Show Car Glaze on prior to the #26. The two go together very well.
RockPick,
Sorry, I edited my post. I didn't mean it that way.

I've noticed that several of the O'Riellys around Plano carry all the mequiar's products...might check them out if they're in florida...by the way 6 weeks is the longest I've been on gold class..just watch the soap that you use...I use amoure all car wash
I still have some #7 and #26 sitting on the shelf in my garage, there prolly frozen by now
anyway, I always used it on my old F-150 and man, I was very impressed with it. I used to always use turtle wax, lemme tell ya. It smelled chemically like, hard to buff off, didn't repel dirt and road grime for crap and the shine wasn't really all the great.
Couple months later, I stripped it off and did the #7 and #26 deal. I was very very impressed with the results
I would not be afriad nor have any objections of using it on my 98 Ranger. I have some Prowax Satin Creme right now sitting in my bedroom staying warm for the winter
When spring weather rolls around, I'm going to try out my Pro's Clay Away4, then #7 and finish off with #26, I can't wait to see the results. Meguiars makes a great line of car care products, though, I'm not real fond of there consumer products.
