Question Rust on interior kick panel

hi-

just recieved my truck from the body shop and, while I was cleaning the interior, noticed some rust developing on my drivers side kick panel, by the parking brake. has anyone elso noticed this? if so, how would you recommend I clean it? steel wool and breakfree?

any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

i know of quite a few guys that have this problem. i'd say your best bet would be sand the rust down, clean the area with alchol or soemthing, then paint it to stop the spreading of the truck cancer.
goodluck

thats why i zaino every possible surface i can doorsills and all

Hey there!

I guess the problem was that my truck was sitting in a bdy shop for 7 weeks. going to go over the spot with a little steel wool on Friday, then clean it up.

I saw the "post *****" thread...

Are we talking about rust on the 'INTERIOR kick panel'? Isn't it plastic? I don't get it...

I wax my doorjambs, kickpanels, etc whereever theres green paint gets wax, but still even on teh bottoms of the doors theres a slight bubbling. I just keep a very light layer of 3-in-1 oil on the seams on the bottoms of the doors and it seems to prevent it

Just to clear the heads of the confused, you're right...rust doesn't accumulate on plastic. I don't know if there is a name for the sheet metal directly behind the "kick panel." But if there is a name please let me know. To see the area in question more clearly, you have to pull up your rug, by the parking brake pedal.
After I clean off the rust, I am going to spray it with some silicone lube.

Thanks for your input, all.

Well silly sam, any wax or polish will prevent rust, Zaino just does a better job at it since it last longer...

oh ok i konw what your saying the piece of metal behind the plastic i thought you meant the doorjamb piece by the seat. My truck also has rust on similar metal under the back seat part of the seat frame didnt come painted and has light rust on it. I like the idea of sanding down and a light layer of thin oil or silicone...hmmm....i know what my next project is now

up and behind the kick panel. might be easier to see if you remove the door sill (just pops straight up) then pull the plastic kick plate off, there's metal behind all that, thats what he's saying is rusty
