Windshield wipers

Is there any reason I couldn't get slightly larger than OE sized blades? The windshield is huge and my 2000 Crown Vic has longer blades than the E-250. Or did they match the wiper blades to the size and curvature of the glass? Stock is 20", my Vic uses 22" blades.

Per another thread that I either read on f150online or the other site... you can use 22" blades on the F150 windshield. I plan on going to a 22" when I have to replace my current ones.

I'm told that they will work just fine and don't 'slap' or move beyond acceptable limits, even when on 'HIGH'.

My only worry is that the windshield wiper motor is designed for the 20" thus, will the 22" cause the motor to be stressed and thus fail in a more rapid fashion?

i've even heard of some guys going with 26 on drivers side and 24 on passenger side
i'm happy with the stock size, just need new ones. rarely use them so they are still the original blades since 00, so it think its time to get new ones...i'm thinking the bosch ones look like they work really good

I'm going to get replacement Tripledge blades for the stock Motorcrafts right now. I found that rubber blades freeze all too often in the winter.

I replaced mine with the Bosch blades. Make sure you get the "Micro Edge Excels" and not the regular Micro Edge.

Question

Off topic, but has anyone ever noticed that the whole truck shakes when the wipers are on the highest setting? It's espicially noticeable when you're sitting at a light, or in park. Mine almost make me seasick sometimes, lol! I would think longer blades could only make it worse?,,,,98

98SCREAMER,

Never noticed that? You must have the "Heavy Duty" wiper motor!

That's for sure !!

The Excels are awesome. Almost like your windshield is brand new.

Thumbs up wiper blades

I've used 22" blades on all 3 of my F150's and never had a problem. I highly recommend them

Exclamation

Probably not? I had one of those arms off once, and it weighs about a pound at least, maybe more. Two of those swinging back and forth is enough to shake any vehicle.,,,,98

I use the winter blades(the ones with a cover on the arm,so they won't get fouled up with ice and snow),then the excels in spring and summer

I just got off the road with those, and they were useless above 60mph They lifted off the windshield directly in my field of view, which left a nice salty smear. Does anyone make a better winter blade??,,,,98

These were the rubber covered models.....

I use the Bosch Microedge Excels all year and never have a problem, except as they wear out which is about every 2 years. They work fine for me up to 80mph.
