Transmission Service

I was quoted $260 by my dealer to have my tranny fluid replaced. This includes draining the torque convertor, but they say it's not a "flush" because trannys that require mercon 5 are not flushable.

What are your opinions? Is this a reasonable amount to pay? Am I getting ripped? Would I be better off going to a tranny place to have this service done? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Habibi

Tranny Work

I have been given about the same price from a dealer. They told me that the tranny doesn't actually get 'flushed" They remove the fluid using a vacuum type setup down the filler neck from the top of the engine. They can't flush all areas because some residual fluid remains in the TC that can't be removed unless the car is running. Seems to make sense. So they simply remove and replace the fluid and check to see that all things are working correctly. I hope this info helps and that it is on the right track.

I paid $240 at my dealer. So its not unreasonable.

Haggle in a free oil change.
