I'm looking to get an ARE CX Evolve truck cap for my new 19. I was looking for input from any current owners of these or any ARE cap. Particularly on the subject of the E lock.
Do they work OK and are they worth the extra money.
And of course how do you like your ARE cap

 

I moved your post to a more appropriate forum, and I'm vary happy with my ARE cap. It doesn't have an E lock though.

I've had the A R E LS II bed covers for the last 20 years on my trucks. I won't have another one. The first one cost me under 800. bucks installed. They are now double that and half as good. The first one was almost heavy and built to last forever. The last one is flimsy at best. They don't warrant the paint and I've had to have mine repainted as the white turned yellow. The first one had a decent lock on it. You had to really work at it to bust onto the thing. The last one the lock will keep the honest folks out, but that's about all. It's incredibly flimsy. Frankly, it can be locked and you not know it but lift up on it and it opens anyway. I think the "locking rods" are just 1/8"x 1/2" mild steel. The rods don't bend, you don't have to bend them back, they're just so flimsy. There are a bunch much better lids out there for far, far less money. Then there is the local A R E dealer. He's about as low life as it comes. I was on my way to his shop to either get a lid or my $1200.00 deposit back or $1200.00 of him when he "magically" found the deposit I gave HIM. Then claimed it was some kid he fired apparently stole the money. I hate a liar. Regardless, I'd look around. I have a Jason Dealer close by and have looked at his tops/covers. They are FAR better built and considerably cheaper.
