broken window

So I broke the back window out of my topper yesterday. Pissed would be an understatement.
Who has been in my shoes? Do I call a glass company or a century topper dealer?

Ouch. Is that through century topper? Or a glass company?

that's kind of what I thought but, the glass is actually frameless. It's one big piece of glass and the hinges and the latches all bolt through holes in the glass. and of course they don't have one in stock so they have to make one next time to run glass. truly a downer. I really like the topper but for that kind of money that's a lot of things I can do.

the only option I can find is through a century dealer. all the glass shops I talk to don't have a way to order it and since its tempered glass can't cut one. I'm thinking about making one out of plexiglass.

You will live to hate the plexi-glass, it scratches real easy.

Try a custom shower door company, if the panel is flat. They cut/drill glass all the time then send it out to be tempered, takes about 5-10 days usually.

Good luck.

Also, your insurance company should cover the breakage.......less the deductible.

Id just go and buy a new topper for that. Here in Ontario Cdn, there is two places that sell used class A toppers for 4-800. But I picked a Claas A Leer XL for 200, just have to pick up a new lock handle for 40$.

since it got bumped ill update. I got a piece of lexan, the same stuff used for motorcycle windshields, and made one to fit, looks good except for the tint job I jacked up. it works pretty good but the latches and strikers are getting in bad shape, that combined with it being so much lighter it doesn't want to stay latched without doing it just right. im still considering buying a new window since the new one comes with the whole works. plus if I have them install all of it and they get it right it should be trouble free for years to come. I can find other used ones around for 3-500 bucks but then theres paint, latches and struts wear, no clue how to get rid of the one I got, etc.. plus I like the style of the one I have. tax time is around the corner and ill decide on what to do then.

looks waaay to hoopty for my taste!!

Good grief - you are supposed to tint it before you install it!
