Line-X bed liner thoughts?
To the Original Poster:
I can't comment on price because I am up in Canada and everything here is usually more costly. For matter of comparison though, it cost me $550.00, plus taxes to have a 6.5 foot box sprayed below the rails and including the tailgate.
I also opted for the additional Line-X Premium coating for an additional $150.00. The Premium coating is a ultra-violet protective coating that reduces the fading, adds a "shine" to the look of the Line-X and makes the Line-X that much better. I do note that the Premium coating makes the bedliner a bit more slippery (it is actually shiny all the time), so cargo slides easier. But it also ensures that after you wash out any dirt, it comes up looking brand new all over again.
I hope that helps answer your questions.

Line-x
I just had my 2012 FX4 bed sprayed with Line-x. My last several trucks I've always been a Rhino person. But after reading on some of there stuff, I decided to give Line-x a shot. I went to the one in Denton, Tx. It was $450+ $100 for the UV. They had a $50 coupon. I had the bed and the tailgate. I removed my step assist bar from the tailgate and it's the best thing I've done so far. But I will say, it's only been two weeks, but I was very impressed with the guys over at Denton and seems like they do a lot of trucks over there.
Line-X is tuff stuff, but yes .... it needs proper preperation. My '07 has one in it, I love it, but it is "non skid". I picked up a bed mat cheaply and laid it on top, and then .... I had a friend giving away a SB drop in bed liner from his Chebbie so I grabbed that and cut the sides off and trimmed the bottom to fit my narrower flareside floor and kept parts of the fenders and cut notches for tie downs.
What I ended up with is a floor and front wall and fenderwell protection (from like plywood) that allows slioding in stuff (like motor blocks). I don't worry about water underneath with a Undercover bed cover in place. Depending on my hauling needs, I can use the Line-X, the mat (smoother, easier on knees, but non skid) or drop in floor (slick and easy to slide stuff on).
Then a couple months ago I saw two bedliners on a pile of debris a shop owner was gonna burn. He told me to get them and so I did ..... free .... and they were both 8 feet long. They'll make solid inserts for the sides of my utility trailer. Easy to cut with the saw of your choice.
My '77 has a 26+ year old drop in bedliner, that thing takes a beating and doesn't show it!

I find it kinda funny that there are 2 guys in this thread bashing Line-X. One of which doesn't even have it installed! If you want s**t to slide in and out of your bed, don't get it. If that's not a concern, go for it. Real happy with mine. Protects the bed from scratches when I load the motorcycles up. Installer provided excellent customer service.

For the record, I do not have first hand experience with Line-X. My decision to not have it installed mostly comes from reports from this and other forums of owners revieving poor installations and Line-X not taking full responsibility for the dealers they supply their product to.

Some opinions where given without and some with explanations/details about the product/dealer experience. Also to pay attention to the installers prep work.
All reply's are informative and helpful in answering the OP's question. I'm sure everybody is happy about your great dealer experience. Unfortunately, not every Linex dealer is as great as yours.

I have had both a plastic liners and Line X and I can say that without a doubt the spray in Bed liners I have had out perform and out lasted the lay in liners. Choose which one best suits your needs though.
I stand...er...sit corrected on the distance.
Be aware TruckGasm is a dealer.
The warranty is worthless if you have to take a poor installation back to the idiots who did it poorly in the first place. I have no doubt that the product is good but if Line-X requires you to go back to an incompetent dealer, I'm not about to chance it. I'll get a drop in first. I'm also looking at the Dual Liners.

On top of doing a poor job, many will try to cut corners and spray it thin to save money. On my truck the franchise closer to me (25 miles) sprayed it too thin.. I wanted to take it to a franchise that was 75 miles away to get it fixed properly (who would have done the job for $150 less in the first place), but Linex corporate wouldn't let me. I had to go back to the first franchise and hand over my truck to them for 2 days to get it fixed. The first time I will say that they did a nice job of taping everything. There was no overspray or anything. The second time I can tell they rushed it upon closer inspection when I got it home. There is overspray on my factory bedrails, they didn't replace the warranty tag, The bed bolts are sunk into the liner so water will now pool, and my AC was blasting when I turned on my truck. I should have checked the millage before I left it there; maybe they took it to get lunch. They were pissed off that they got caught! Not a professional franchise at all. The place that is 75 miles from me is top notch. The owner really knows his stuff. I got to see their shop and how they do things. They were willing to fix my bed, but corporate wouldn't let them (because of the 100 mile BS). I had them do my rear bumper in color match and it came out great. Be very careful who you elect to go with. I would go with a great Rhino applicator over a poor Linex applicator any day. I would have traveled 3,000 miles to avoid the experience I had. My next truck is definitely going to the further place.
If you are curious, take your truck to another Linex franchise and have them spec your bed. If it is too thin call Linex Corporate and complain. Maybe if they get enough complaints they will change the 100 mile radius BS. I'll give my business to the good applicators. The bad ones that cut corners and screw over unknowing customers have no business being in business. Linex corporate should be up on this because it makes a great product look bad.
