Stupid tailgate cap..

I was unloading my friends snowmobile out of my truck over the weekend and somehow I managed to pop the plastic tailgate cap off... I snapped over have the pins off that hold it to the tailgate. I called the local Ford dealer and they wanted nearly $180.00 for a new one. Has anyone else had a problem with the tailgate cap?

Mine came off too, so I just used some black sheetmetal screws to reattch it. The replacement cost is ridiculous.

That seems outrageously high, fast parts network lists them at 44.95 (which is still too much), haven't tried other places.

The Ford dealer in town is nortorious for over pricing... Since they are located a few miles off base they target young airman into ridiculous situations. They were charging almost $70 for oil changes last year

Good deal. I was going to mention 3M makes a heck of a marine adhesive you can pick up at HD, 6 bucks a tube, even comes in black. I pretty sure a good bead of that and the cap would never come back off.

Sucks it came off, but better than than your tailgate taking the hard hit. Another good money profit they thought out for when a part needed replaced.
