Installed my bedrug with step gate today in the Platinum

I have to say this is one of the best aftermarket items I've ever installed on anything. I learned a long time ago building and racing sportbikes that nothing aftermarket ever fits without some kind of tweaking or a big f'n hammer but this fit almost perfect. The step gate was a little tricky around the cap but it worked out. It took me twice as long as it should have because I'm **** and try to make everything perfect but I am very happy with the results.

Now I need to sell the Ford hard liner that came with the truck. Can anyone tell me a fair price to ask for it? It is only a month old.

Your Bedrug will maintain it's looks and composure a lot better if you have a tonneau cover.

Good luck with the drop-in bedliner, I can't even give them away!

I love how nice the bedrugs look, which is why I didn't get one bc I would be afraid to put anything in my bed. Very nice looking though!!!

Definitely getting a roll cover if I can ever make up my mind on which one I want.

Looks sharp! Really makes me wish I had gotten the tailgate step. You and I have almost identical trucks (tailgate step is the only difference I've seen). I ordered the Bedtred today and plan to install it this weekend - will post pics for comparison. Like you, I am STILL trying to decide on which roll cover I want.

I know what you mean about the roll cover. I went a looked at my friends Retrax again today and noticed that it was not lying flat. It had like a wave to it. I also hit it lightly with my hand to see how solid it was and while it felt solid, it made quite a loud rattle. Not sure how that would be going down the road.

I just put in a bedrugin my platinum yesterday. I'd post photos but it looks just like yours but with the 6.5 ft bed. I also got the American roll cover ladt week and I have to say these two accessories truly complement each other. I could sleep in there - comfortably. Interestingly I was literally a day away from getting linex put in. For some reason I reconsidered but I am so glad I did. If this holds up half as well as people say I will be happy. I had an xlt that I worked to death but I did buy the platinum now because I want the cush. I will be hauling and towing just as I did with the xlt but will leave out the abuse of the bed.

I love the platinum truck; now I have a platinum bed as well.

Some of you guys will be surprised at the abuse that the bedrug can take. Don't be afraid of using your truck as a truck, because your afraid the bedrug can't take it. They are trully amazing at what they can withstand.

For the last 30 years I have tried several bed liners and the bedrug has been the best for my needs. I have had pallets of sod pushed around on it with a forklift with no damage to the rug.
Hauled just about everything in it and the rug always cleaned up with some oxy clean and a hose. Even dirty oil and grease from an old block washed out like it never happened. The only thing that they are lacking is impact protection, but I'm not going to be tossing bricks into the bed of my truck anyway.

One of the few purchases I have made that still impressed me years latter. Highly recommend them.

did it come with holes for the handle pole or did you have to cut around for it?

I got the Ford sportliner (bedrug) about 2 weeks ago and I still don't have it in.. Why? Well the install kit was missing of the 36" black-backed velcro strips and something like 15 of the 1" ones. I just got a call that the 1" just came in today so I might actually get to install it in the next few days. Hope mine turns out that well.

The tail piece for the mini stripper pole has a hole already cut into it. The entire section that the pole folds into is molded to fit the pole. It's a little tricky and the hardest part of the installation but not too bad.

Any problem with leaks around the tail gate step? I have been hearing that area is a problem unless you go with a over the rail cover. I really like the bed rug and the inside rail bed covers like the roll ups and bak flips but don't want to spend a small fortune on these to have water getting in around the tail gate step.

I didn't read back through all the replies but if you are asking me, I don't have a cover yet but I have heard the same thing.
