Questions about bed caps

I'm doin' some research into which bed cap to get for my truck, and I have a couple questions.

1) How hard is it to see through the rear window and bed cap with all the windows tinted? I have a backup camera, so I'm not too concerned about backin' up, but rather when checkin' my blind spot while drivin' at night.

2) I like the ARE Z-Series caps. I've read about fit & finish issues with LEER, so I've just about ruled them out. And I don't know much about other companies, such as Century. Can anyone fill me in on Century or any other company that has a quality product? If I'm gonna spend the money on a cap, I definitely wanna do it right the first time.

Any other advice/tips y'all can offer would be appreciated as well!

Thanks!

I think I've decided on an A.R.E. Z-series when I finally get one.

Another question, though, to go with my other questions... How bad is the blind spot? It seems like the added "body" would make the blind spot larger. Is it bad, or does it just take a little gettin' used to?

What ever you have to do, wait and go with the ARE Z series, you won't be disappointed. I have had just about every brand of topper on my work trucks for the past twenty five years and they are by far the best fit, finish and styling. Be prepared, they are not cheap. I actually bought a used one for $300 and had it painted to match for $200. Because I like the fold down front window I had the ARE dealership replace the front window so total I have about $650 into it compared to $1900 for a new one, but could not be happier.

Cool. Thanks. I think the Z-series is what I'm gonna go with when I get one. I called the three closest A.R.E. dealers to get pricing. They all had different prices for the cap and options. However, with the cap, tilting/sliding front window, and Bedrug, they were all around $2300 +/- a few bucks. That's actually not as bad as I expected, since it includes paint and installation. With the bit of research I've done, it seems the quality of the A.R.E. products is about as good as it gets, and the customer service seems to be good to, even when it comes to warranty stuff. That's what's pretty much made up my mind to go with the A.R.E. Z-series.

I have the ARE CX series. I think ARE is a pretty good company. I had an issue after I bought the cap and was able to contact their customer service through email and arrange to have the cap sent back and repaired.
As far as the question about seeing through the back window, it is much more difficult to see through 3 tinted windows. It helps if you have the slider in the truck and the sliding front window on the cap open. I do wish I would have bought the backup camera. You learn to adjust, I installed some auxilliary lights under the bumper which helped when backing.
ARE cap and bedrug combo has worked out great for me so far.

I'm thinking about selling my Cap. I have done a lot of research on mine and I believe it is an A.R.E. Z-series. There are no decals on the inside or outside labeling it as a LEER or an A.R.E. Check it out and let me know if you are interested. I think we could work out something better than $2300.
