Ford F150 OEM Soft Tonneau Cover question.

I am a long time Silverado owner that has decided to come over to the dark side.

I have purchased a 2010 F150 Lairat Crew cab. I am wondering if anyone has any feedback regarding the OEM roll up soft tonneau cover from Ford.

My Silverado had a Truxido Lopro cover that I liked but the Ford one is cheeper.

My questions are

- How are the cross suppots succured?
- How easy is the cover to roll up and re-succure?

Thanks
Duncan

Tonneau cover

Dtocher,

I too have just moved over to the dark side from Chevy!!!

Just purchased a F150 Lariat in pearl white with all the bells and whistles.

I am looking for a tonneau cover and was looking at the lopro but 450 is more then what I wanted to spend. Did you ever go with the OEM cover and do you approve? I'm looking for a roll up velcro no snaps....

Thanks,

Mike

I ended up going with the Truxido Lopro cover. I have not been dissapointed as of yet by it. The only disclamer is that you do get water ingress at the corners although its nothing major. At most its just some dampness with no standing water in the bed.

I did check out the OEM cover and was not happy with the construction or complexity in rolling it up. There are removable cross supports that you have to store when the cover is off and the sealing system is a pressed in grove. I found it to be a pain.

I had the oem cover for the silverado and loved it, no leaks and water never got into the bed....I checked out the lopro and not to keen on the look, i noticed truxedo makes a top mount for about $150 less..Might go for that one.

I checked out the soft tonneaus too and opted for a Snugtop painted hardcover for my Platinum truck. When you spend so much on a truck why not top it off with something that looks awesome and is safe. These plastic covers offer no protection other than from the elements...

No need for a hard top, I haul bikes in the bed so need it opened when transporting. I feel that the hard cover is for owners who don't utilize their beds, though they do look nice.

Look at the Bak Flip product as well as others. They fold back rather easily for almost full bed access.

I have the Extang "Express" on both my F150 and my wife's Nissan Frontier. I liked the one on my F150 (dealer installed option) so well I ordered the one for the Frontier and installed it myself. Had the one on the F150 for four years now and it is holding up really good (one year for the Nissan). The cross braces are part of the roll, so no need to mess with them when you open or close the tonneau. The sides seal with velcro and I have never had it leak - even when going through a car wash. I have been very pleased with the quality and ease of use. I don't have any pictures with the tonneau installed - sorry.
