craigslist + army = good

i put an ad in my local craigslist a few days ago in the auto parts section...

WANTED: tanno or bed cap for 01-03 f150 supercrew. will pay up to 300 for the right cover, or up to 500 for the right cap.

reason i had the high prices was to actually get someone thinking... hmm...do i really need that cap/cover on my truck out there? or do i need this cash?

then i was going to try to get it cheap.

my first pick would have been a red cap/camper shell, but my wife hates those. my second pick/her first pick would be a red or black locking hard tonno cover.

we both hate the snap on or velcro ones, because they look cheap all bowed out, and theres no security.

well i just got an email from a guy who has a fiberglass bed cover, locking, black... and he wants 30 bucks for it.

theres no major scratches in it, no dents, and he said it should look brand new with a wash/wax. and the shock arms on it are shot, new ones are around 30 bucks.

so i called him, and when he found out i was a soldier he lowered the price to a 30pack of bud light. turns out we have the same truck - 03 4x4 red supercrew.. and he used to be in the army in the 80s. he took the bed cover off because the shocks went out and it was too heavy for him to lift this winter when it got a few feet of snow on it.

good man.

ill post some pics tomorrow. im picking it up at 9am.

Hell yeah..... I found the people in upstate NY to be very military friendly (I was stationed at Knoll's Atomic Power Lab (Navy) near Ballston Spa until about a year ago).... its not the same for me now. I am in Lawrence, KS where I am suddenly considered a baby killer. Whatever. I miss NY.
