LED lights in cap/under bed rail

As anyone found with any success LED lights for inside your cap or under the bed rail. I have seen some from Recon and others. Looking for something that would mount (3M tape or hot glue) on the ceiling of my fiberglas cap. I am already wired and switched for 12v.

Some of the clear rope with the lights inside might do the trick. The cap closing might crush it however depending on how thick it is. Dont know?

I put a switched 12v source in the bed and rain 'rope-like' LEDs under the lip of the bed. I'm sorry but, I don't have any pics but, it works FANTASTICALLY well at providing just enough light to be able to work in the box when it's dark.

I bought the Recon bed light kit a while ago but never installed.

Question for you: Where did you tap into for your power source and what type of switch did you go with? Thanks

edit: Just looked at my light kit and it comes w/a switch. Not sure though if I like it.

I ran a dedicated line from the fuse block back to the back of the truck... my switch is a lighted 'rocker' switch that is generally unmounted but will some day be affixed immediately under the edge of the bed on the drivers' side.

Did you use one of the aux fuse slots or tie it in to a exsisiting fuse circuit?

Not wanting to pay for the Recon kit. I purchased a LED underbody kit from E-bay. They screwed up and sent me the one with the remote. I just tied into the cap light wire, and they are freakin bright! The fun part is you can make them blink, flash with 12 different settings.

TruckCoversUSA has the American Cargo Lights that can be hooked up directly or you can get a battery kit with it.

My current cap dome light is tapped into the marker lamp wire. That way I cannot forget to turn off the cap light. Thanks for all the input so far. And yes I did look into the underbody LED's.

Sorry... I missed this earlier...

Existing circuit. I can't remember which though... just did it with an 'add a fuse'.

I think that's the way I want to go. Really rather not tap into the taillights or trailer plugs.

Thanks

It was pretty simple... the wires go out of the rubber grommet beneath the passenger kick plate and then snake under the truck to the back drivers's tail light. They then fish up and into the bed. Same thing on the other side...

Switched is definitely the way to go... I tried to devise a way that I could use a REED switch but, I couldn't quite get it to work out the way that I wanted for it to work thus, I scrapped that idea and just went to a simple toggle.
