I've just ordered this 4 Pcs underbody LED lights kit just like JerzeyScrew. I will install it inside the bed as soon as i get it. I think it's gonna be very useful.

I'll post some pics once installed.

I ran a wire up to the battery for my cap light and a power point socket I mounted into the side of the bed for the electric igloo cooler I regularly use during the summer.

On my old truck I found a wire in the trailer harness that was hot all the time.
On my 97, the battery charge wire for the trailer is only hot when the key is in run.
I wanted constant power available for the power point and light, so I had to run a new wire.

I just followed the wiring harness up to the engine bay and tapped into the battery at the main fuse block (at the 175A fuse).
Be sure to use heavy gauge wire (#10 or larger) and fuse at the connection to the main fuse block.

If you are only going to run bed lights, you can probably get away with smaller 14-16 gauge wire. If you want a power point, you need to use the heavier wire.

I ran #10 and fused for 15A.

Did you ever get these installed? I'm looking for some bed/cargo lights.

It was easy. I already got power in the bed for my air compressor, so i've just tapped in there. And since the LED lights kit have 2 wireless remotes included, there was no reasons for me to mount any additional switches. I've just put a velcro stripe on one of the remote and stick it near the tailgate. (you can see the remote on the right upper side of the tailgate).

I used the Recon brand under the bed rails. I used an inline fuse, and went to the stud beside the fuse box. I wired the lights up to a mercury switch mounted in the tailgate. Now when I open the tailgate the bed lights come on. LOVE IT!
