Just got Line-X. Have a small problem.

I dropped my truck off last night after work so they could park it inside so it would be warm and dry and they said it should be done by noon today. I got a call at 8AM saying it was finished. I am very happy with the results. The liner looks great. I was actually starting to get a little surface rust and the paint was peeling on the vertical edge of the bed where the gap between the tailgate and bed is at. I think the drop-in liner was holding some moisture there when the tailgate was up. That part got covered with Line-X which is the main reason I decided to have it done.

Anyway, to the problem I now have. I previously had a Ford drop-in liner and the bolts that were holding the liner to the tailgate are now longer than necessary and stick up out of the tailgate. Do I need to go to a Ford dealer to get shorter OEM bolts?

Cut the ends sounds like a much better remedy.

I have a dremel. I will try cutting one down. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am so damn tired today I can't think of the simplest of solutions.

I had that problem when I installed my Bedrug and removed the OEM liner. I bought the correct bolts at the dealer for like $0.60 each. It was worth it not to have to deal with cutting and grinding.

I wasn't able to cut down the existing bolts because they only have threads about half way up. I wouldn't have had barely any threads left if I cut them to the proper length.

Went to the dealer and picked some up. They are some damn expensive bolts. They are around $2.25 per bolt. Spent about $18 for all 8 of them. What bothers me more than the prices is that they are grey bolts, not black. Not sure if it is worth trying to paint them black or not.

Was reading some other threads about Line-x and there was mention that the bed bolts are supposed to be removed before spraying so the bolts aren't covered. Is that right?

They didn't remove mine and sprayed over top of them. I guess I have no intention of ever having to remove those bolts but I was just curious as to whether it was done right.

Yeah they were suppose to remove the bolts before spraying, thats strange that they didn't. However, it looks nicer that way in my opinion. And how many times have you had to take the bolts out anyway?

They didn't remove my bed bolts either, but they did try, they were so rusted they broke 2 bits trying to remove them, so I said just spray over them.

I asked for my bed bolts to be removed since I have a BL. I need to take the time and paint them black!

Any good installer will remove the bolts unless specified otherwise or they were unable to remove them or the installer was just lazy.
