the thread was never meant to be a beat down on roll on bedliners the guy said that he was gonna do a rollon beliner and possibly do the floors in his truck... he never asked what did everybody thought of it, thats why i told him to use duplicolors bedliner, im not gonna go tell him what to do he just stated that so i figured why argue with him about it ill just tell him what i know from roll ons.

and another thing that gets at me is that i come in this thread and recommend what he should use if he goes that route.. and i have some guy come in here and attack me! ive done nothing but help people on this site and to have someone attack me for giving product advice... the point is is that he never asked about line-x or rhino so why would i give him info on those?

if TRUCKGASM would have came in here and been respectful about it like you then there would have been no problems but he wanted to be alittle *****!

but thanks for the respect and im done with this thread!
4.2. I want to make sure you understand my figures.

I paid 200 for liner I won at auction
I paid around 600 for my line-X but I also had Xtra sprayed on that too

That is why i said I spent 800 to get a liner when I could have spent only 450 for a line-x the first time. But I did opt to have the Xtra sprayed in my truck. It was worth it in my opinion.

If someone is quoting you upwards of 800-1000 for line-x I think you should ask TruckGasim to help you get a better price. Speaking of his comment, I know him personally and his note was taken wrong...I read the sarcasm in his note. He is considered to be an expert when it comes to Line-X and he knows the product better than anyone here I assure you.

Sorry i am not trying to speak for him here just letting you know that if you did a search on Line-X on this forum you would see the countless hours he spends here providing assistance to anyone looking for it.

Cheers and have a great weekend.

JP

yeah i noticed it earlier, after this thread with a guy having problems with his line-x dealer. he gives alot of people good advice, and i figured he might have been a representative on line-x. if he can find me a dealer that will get me linex for 450 then id add it to the list if not then my plstic liner will stay in im in no hurry at the moment... thanks rollin for clearing it up!

No worries.

The point of the board is to help each other out and provide ideas, share experince and knowledge.

I don't frequent this area of the forum, I mainly hang out in the Care and Detailing section where I too spend countless hours providing assistance on paint, detailing, answering questions and also physically viewing local trucks and working on them for members.

In addition I have had many spray in liners on different trucks....Rhino, Toff, and now Line-X. They each have their pros and cons....less cons with Line-x for me. My truck is mainly used for pulling our 5th wheel camper, but I also remove my hitch and use my truck for rock, sod, mulch, quads, wood etc...All the liners I have had got the same usage however they faded rapidly over time and my Line-X has preformed better than all of them and it looks better.

My .02....stepping off my soap box.

Cheers and if you need any detailing help, c'mon over to the CD section.

Roll-in Liner for 4.2

Hey 4.2!

Allow me to extend a little perspective to your dilemma. I was there not long ago. I as well cannot afford a Line-X liner. I've just got too much else going on right now. My factory drop-in was virtually sandblasting my truck bed. I had very slight surface rust and felt I had to do something. I went with a Dupli-Color roll-in.
Overall, I don't regret that move, however, it doesn't stop there. I did one hell of a prep job, rolled the stuff in as thick as possible, and prayed. Sometimes, prayers don't get answered in full.
One trip to get a propane tank refilled revealed that to me. It rolled a little because I didn't secure the tank properly, but for an empty little propane tank to do the damage it did to my roll-in tells me that it simply won't stand up to much..........so I added in a bed mat. My total cost? About 120 bucks for the liner kit and mat. All is okay, for now.
If you absolutely have to go with the roll-in kit, I'd suggest getting it sprayed.
I can't swear that spraying would improve the product to a great degree, but it is hard to get good coverage by just rolling. However, if the spraying adds cost to your project, you are getting closer to just opting for the Line-X.
The Dual-Liner looks like another good option, but it is simply too expensive for what you get.........and if Line-X has to offer the Xtra option, then that says to me that Line-X isn't offering the very best they can up front.

It's six of one, a half dozen of another.

Wishing upon a falling star doesn't get one much, so if I had to do this over again, I can't say I'd do anything different because the financial status remains the same..........and the fact that I had to act fast.

If possible, if your bed is presently in good shape, save a little over time and go with the good stuff. What you choose is up to you based on what you prefer. It's a tough call. The Line-X looks absolutely awesome. If I had to choose at this time, I'd probably go with the Dual-Liner although that would take biting a bitter persimmon, because frankly it's overpriced in my opinion.
It's half a drop-in with a bed mat. Arguments presented to me to justify the cost of one didn't add up, but all in all, it probably does offer the best overall protection.

The roll-in will help, but you will probably find yourself touching up chips rather frequently. Over time, the cost of the product alone won't justify that route without a rubber bed mat.

Hope this helps a little.

Those dealers are out of their mind. I would reach out to Truckgasim and see if he is willing to make a few calls for you.

roll ons

the best liner is a thick piece of plastic with spray (linex or whatever)bedliner underneath. and make sure you clean it out good on a regular basis of course. roll ons are good for about a year of very heavy use, only if you scuff it up good with sand paper and make sure the bed is clean and not rusted, and do it when the temp is pretty hot in full sun. the more coats the better duplicolor is the only kind i tried. it will chip peel and scratch off quickly. I used it weekly with heavy use and it held up for about a year. With light use dont wast your money on professional bedliner, do it yourself. You can always touch it up if it gets ragged. light use meaning toolboxes furniture soft stuff. heavy use meaning rocks, cement, shovel scraping, dirt, sand and whatever else.
