Bed extender hardware

I just bought a new F-150(08) and kept the bed extender from my older F-150 (05)...but my new truck does not have the posts that the bed extender mounts to on the truck. Is there anywhere I can buy these posts so that I can use my bed extender with my new truck?

One the new truck, the bed extender fastens into the rear corner posts. There is a center bolt and 2 holes.

Your extender may or may not fit - the truck was completely redesigned in 04. I know the inside of the bed changed dramatically, my guess would be the mounting for the extender changed too.

His was an 05 same everything. But you will either have to go to the dealership and buy the striker/pins or go and steal them off your old truck.

Bad news, the parts you are looking for are called "mounting brackets" from the Ford Parts desk.

You may want to sit down for before reading. Those brackets are 150.00. At mine were at my Ford Shop, however they sold me all the parts not just the ones I needed, they don't break them out like that. Ask around and try and find them or get them off your old truck.

Its a pain.

I think I might have the Ford part numbers at home. All you need is the 2 center threaded pins that screw into the side of the bed. There is a part number for this pin and I think they are about 5.00-6.00 each. I went through the same thing a couple of months ago. I bought an extender from a guy who buys over stock etc... he gets extenders all the time without the hardware pins and just buys them and sells the extenders. I learned an expensive lesson. I could have bought an extender for 50-75 without hardware and another 10-15 and been in business. Instead I paid 175.00 for extender with hardware because I was running into the same information about hardware. I will look at home and see if I can save you the trouble.

Almost forgot there are also 2 grommets for the lock pin. (I did not use them because I have a bed liner. They are available as well for a couple of bucks.

If you could find the part #s for the pins and grommets that would be cool, I hope I can buy them by themselves and not have to purchase them as part of some "package". I think that if I have the pins and grommets it will work just fine with the old extender...

That is all you need. I reffered to them as striker/pins in my reply because all they are are old tailgate strikers for the latch.

I have not forgotten about the part numbers. I looked at my house and cannot find them. I called the guy I bought my bed extender from and he is in Phoenix for the week at the Barrett-Jackson auction. He said call him in a week and he will give me the numbers.

I will call him and post the part numbers.

I think I found the part #s just wanted to verify the quantity of each:

1 X W707381-S900
4 X YL3Z-84286A54-AA

Does that look right?

I was able to buy just the pins and grommets at my local dealer, but they were still beaucoup bucks (if I remember correctly about $75). When he first brought them out, he quoted me almost twice that much. I squawked about how ridiculous that was - he agreed, checked his terminal again, and found me a better price. You might give that a try if you go to the parts dep't.

You actually need 2 X W707381-S900 - These are the mounting pins.

The 4 X YL3Z-84286A54-AA are optional. I didn't use these because I have a bed liner.
