I bought the kit but haven't installed it because I'm reluctant to tap into the wiring with the supplied connectors. It comes with a switch that mounts by tape on the side of the tailgate and turns the lights on when the tailgate is lowered. The instructions say that the light(s) may filcker over bumps occasionally. I think I would prefer to find a way to eliminate the switch and just use the manual switch that is on the lights themselves. I will try to remember to post again to this thread once I decide what I want to do and actually do it.

and what if you have to drive with the tailgate down?

I think you could make your own kit alot easier, and alot nicer then that. but thats just IMO

Thanks for posting. It really sounds like it is not the kind of quality that I would expect for $40. I posted this as I wsa hesitant based on the fact that it is held on with velcro and double sided tape, etc....
