Roll it on or spray it on with the aerosol can, doesn't matter, same product. Actually, if you really want to use Duplicolor, buy the roll on stuff and put it in an HVLP spraygun and spray it on. Much better looking results.

This unique vunyl coating means poly vinyl and poly vinyl is 2007 for lacquer based coatings. Then again, lacquer was good enough for Henry Ford and the Model A so chances are good it's good enough for your $40K truck right? 4.x VOC gives away the poly vinyl or modern lacquer technology as well.

Whether we're talking about glues or coatings which ones are stronger...the 2 component products or the air/moisture cure products? Where is the second component or activator for Duplicolor? Notice how those fancy heat activated sprayers for Line X or Rhino inject both a part A and a Part B? One little hint here these liners aren't vinyl/polyvinyl either.

While I couldn't find it on the link above I swear I have read that you can clean up Duplicolor with wash/lacquer thinner. That's weak and sad.

Notice on the MSDS sheet calcium carbonate is listed. This is a coating filler that literally costs a few pennies per pound. To cheapen a product simply remove 1 pound of high dollar per pound resin (your foundation) and add 2 pounds of CC. Not only is this the cheap way of making something to list it in the MSDS where it's not required is arrogant IMO.

Either way you are buying hybrid lacquer paint similar to basecoat.

And, did you notice who the manufacturer of Duplicolor is on the MSDS? It shows "Sherwin-Williams" which of course is a paint company.

Just a quick follow up. Duplicolor spray liner has worked great for me. After about 9 months it held up better than expected. Last 3 or 4 months I've been using my truck for work and have been hauling metal brakes for siding, ladders, compressors and more lumber than I can remember. The stuff held up great . I traded my truck in last week and the night before I went out a bought 1 can of paint (8 bucks), and did a quick 30min respray hoping to get a good trade in value. Truck looked better than new and the dealer thought it was a high dollar spray in. I recommend this to everyone who wants to save some money as after 9 months my total cost was well under $100 and a great weekend of work on my truck. Hope this helps. If you have questions, just let me know. .... Oh yeah and since duing mine, I've helped two of my friends with their DIY's liners.
