Finished!! Dupli-color spray liner...

Well this is week two after finishing my DIY Dupli-Color truck bed coating and i'm thrilled with the results. It looks like a brand new bed. Before it was just covered in huge scratches and dents, now it looks amazing. I've been using it for light duty the past two weeks and she's holding up great. No scrapes, or scratches what so ever. The best part is, total cost only about 70 bucks. That includes all the paint, sandpaper and misc. items needed. This task will deff. take you the whole weekend so set one aside. Total time for me 14h but it was well worth it. Sanding took the longest, a little over 10 hours but the weather was nice so it wasn't to bad. I used 7 cans of paint @ $8 a can, which is where most of the cost came from. I'll keep you guys updated as I put it threw some more trials ( gotta help someone move tomorrow and later next week I'll throw some stuff around to see its breaking limit ) I've got some pictures up in my new gallery so check it out.

that looks very nice!! is it only textured paint or is there a rubberized component to it?.. and does it come in any other colors? I mean if it's called Dupli-Color.. let us know how it's holding up, pretty hard to beat for $70 if it works..

So far its holding up really well. It made it threw my buddy's move no problem. No scratches at all. I don't know if there is much of a rubberized material but it has a great no slide texture. It seems very durable and it only comes in one color but it is paintable any color.

Oh yeah I can vouch for that stuff. When you properly prep, it is some durable stuff. I did my Jeep's entire interior with it...and the inside of the tailgate of my Ranger. I slid so much stuff across that tailgate and only messed it up once with a brick...the best part is when you do manage to mess it up, it takes about 10 seconds to put a little more dupli-color on.

What I did to repair it was a piece of duct tape, cut it out the size of the chunk that I took out, put it on, spray, remove...done.

It's holding up great so far. It's very easy to do just very time consuming. I first used a combination of 60,80,100 grit sandpaper to sand the entire bed. I used an electric sander for most of the bed to save time but all the corners and edges have to be done by hand and this WILL take time. After everything was sanded I used a tack cloth to get up all the sanding dust and then started masking off all the parts I didn't want painted. Then just paint. Theres not much more to it. The only advice I can offer is go to the dupli-color website, watch the video and really take your time sanding the bed. I could have kept going after 10h but I was pretty wore out. You should give it a try I love it.

as a painter, i sure hope that you were wearing a respirator when you sanded all that down. that much titanium dioxide in your lungs is never a good thing. and i do mean a respirator, not one of those crappy paper dust masks. also where clothes and shoes that you dont ever want to wear again so you can just throw them away cause that dust is rediculous. your finish is only as good as your prep. sanding and cleaning is everything.
