I can emphatically tell you that no matter what liner type I go with that I will definitely get a tonneau. I am also debating between vinyl and hardtop. The worst thing I will be haulin in my bed ever will be a couple loads of mulch and 2x4's and drywall several times a year. There will never be large tools, chainsaws and the like rolling around in my bed unless I am doing a favor for someone. I will probably have our bikes back there when we take our trailer out but thats probably the most metal that bed will see.

Stymie, I have the BEDRUG and I haul Firewood/Mulch and the like. I get out my Home Depot Brown Tarp which is large enough to cover the BEDRUG for the unclean haul. Using the tarp it all comes out with little or no mess.

That being said Line-X is a perfectly good liner!
Well, Speedliner and Superliner are more like paints, that's why they hold their color better. However, they do not hold their gloss. Speedliner's website shows that after only 2,000 hours (that's less than 3 months) the bedliner lost up to 20% of its gloss. Here's the link: http://www.speedliner.com/bed-liner-...ion/index.html

LINE-X with Xtra is guaranteed to to lose ANY of its color or ANY of its gloss.

20% isn't a major loss. However, they also tend to slow down in loss later so overall you wouldn't lose much more than 20-25%, which would be barely noticeable anyway.

Xtra seems to be a great product. I just disagree that Line-X charges extra for it. It should be part of the liner and not an option. That would be like Ford selling a truck in primer gray with no clearcoat. Basically saying here is your truck. But if you want it to look good that will be $5000 extra. Line-X is saying, here is your liner. Now, if you want it to not look like crap in a few months, that will be almost $200 extra. That makes for a $600 Line-X to avoid fading and chalking or a $400 SuperLiner that avoids the same chalking and fading...

A company should produce a product that looks good and will stay that way without charging the customer a premium or option charge to do that.

Believe it our not, I don't totally disagree with you. I know a LINE-X dealer (that's been in business a LONG time) that used to put a UV coating on EVERY bedliner, but he doesn't do it anymore.

Some customers don't care, some customers do care, some customers have applications that it wouldn't matter anyway.

Is a spray-in bed liner better than a regular liner?
Doesnt water get under a regular liner and cause rust in the bed? Well of course I mean Chevrolets, cause I know Ford's dont rust....lol....

Anyone know how long the Bedrug stays damp if it gets really wet? Just wonderin' how long it will take to dry out fully.

A spray-in will not get water under it, EVER. It's bonded permanently to the bed which is great and not so great. Super if it's something you love, not so good if it starts fading or slides way more than you thought it would.

I've killed a Rhino, Speedliner, Pendaliner and I hate rubber mats. Now I'm looking at Bedrugs or trying Line-X, probably the bedrug. We'll see. I'd try that dualcomp thing if they had it for my year. I saw it on trucks and it looked unique. Rhino I tore with a shovel not paying attention with a load of mulch. Speedliner was an accidental exposure to a gallon of bleach that popped on my tie downs driving home and the Pendaliner (hard tub) died when a transmission (from a Chevy, booooo) slid into the headwall on a hard brake. Rubber mat just disintegrated in about a year in the Texas sun. That is as unbiased as you'll get from me. I tried repainting the bed a few times with spray paint, the process was tedious and it requires way more effort than I was willing to continue with on a tri-monthly basis. I just deal with dents now, it's a bed. It's gonna get used, the exterior is what I want to stay looking beautiful.

I'm a truck man and I still can't find one that's perfect, but both spray-ins where very nice before they got ruined. The Rhino was more my taste as it was slightly softer and absorbed impact and the Speedliner looked really good it just slid much more than I thought it would. Both though the dealers took care of it. The Speedliner man was really good to me though since it was my fault the liner failed.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.

i have been dropping PENDA's in my trucks and i haven't had a single problem.

they have been holding up well. I literally throw my tools in the back and never once has it been damaged. $199 with install. I can't complain.

Can you send me a copy of this spreadsheet, because I can't find anywhere on the LineX site where they list their specifications. Not sure why it would not be made public knowledge unless during the comparisons other companies exceed the specs of LINEX.

Check out ONYX. The guy local to me said he used to be a Line-X dealer and this stuff blows Line-X away. Says its 3X stronger thatn Line-X, but also more expensive. I dont use my truck that hard so I didn't get ONYX in my truck. Didn't go with Line-X either.

Funny about that ONYX guy, check out his website. A lot of the stuff on his website is from LINE-X. He's even using the oval logo.

I heard he was a Line-X shop but got his franchise pulled for undisclosed reasons.

Well, I heard that also, but I don't know that to be a fact.

I think he used to offer a cheaper (thinner) Line-X bedliner. You could get an "express" or "heavy Duty" liner. Isn't that a no-no for Line-X dealers (spraying thin)?
