Can spray-on bedliners be a do-it-yourself project?

Hi! I was wondering if someone here has ever sprayed on their own bedliner? If so, what product would you recommend, and do you just shoot it on with a normal paint gun?
We have a Dupont/3M auto supply store in town.
I could obviously take it to a body shop and have them do it, but what fun would that be? I'd like the satisfaction of doing it myself, and saving a little money at the same time. Heck, I might even do my dad's pickup for him too!

I started doing the Dupli-color with aresol cans but only did the tail gate but it came out really nice. Stopped because I decided to go with a bed rug. The Dupli-color web site sells a spray gun that shoots the bedliner for not a lot of money and all the accesories.
The biggest issue would be getting enough material build up. Think about spraying paint, then look at the thickness of a spray-in. No comparison.
Also, prep is key to any spray application. Be careful in prep or it will simply peel off.
