Hey all...I need your opinion on this subject. I had a Toff bedliner sprayed in last Friday. My truck is Deep Wedgewood Blue, and I ordered a navy blue color for the spray. I am happy with the way it came out EXCEPT...they sprayed it black by mistake. Now, for those of you familiar with this color, it is a very dark blue, and the black of the bedliner is not that far off. But I did ask for navy for a close match. The guy gave me 2 options. Either he could "scrape it off" (as he put it) and re-spray it navy at no charge, or give me $100 off on the black (he also gave me 6 months to decide). If I had a red truck, I'd probably have him re-do it, but this is close, and he's being very fair about it, so I figured I'd get opinions here. What do you all think? Thanks!!

By the way...I have another "Opinions please" in the "Other Audio System" section that I could use y'alls help with!

TAKE THE $100 !!!

One thing that impressed me with the spray was it's even application. Scraping sounds like a nightmare. Too much and you're into the metal. Not enough and your blue coat will appear lumpy and most likely you'll end up with a combination of the two.
If you do decide to get it scraped and reapplied let us know how it turns out because it sounds like radical experimental surgery to me.

 

Why would he scrape it off- does it not "stick" to itself? If not, how can it be repaired when damaged? Seems like he should be able to just spray a layer of navy over the black.

Did you pay extra for the navy? Many places charge about $100 more for colors other than black. His "discount" offer may not really be a penalty to him.

If it REALLY has to be scraped, I'd take the $100 off the price of the BLACK. If it can just be "shot over", I'd make him put the blue on. You'd be getting extra thickness for your trouble.

if it was me i'd take the 100 bucks
i don't think i whould want them scraping my
bed. most bed liners are black anyways and you said it's a close match.
plus you don't know how well the 2nd one will
turn out.

Take the money I have a friend that had this happen to and he had a red truck and made them redo it but when they took of the old they missed some parts and he has bumps in some spots now he is in court ofer it becaused they will not fix it and he had to cancled the check and told them if they fix it he will pay them.. he has a line-x. So if was up to I would take the $100.00 and put a tunnel cover on it.

Keep the black, the color tints all fade over time. In 3-4 years your "navy" would have been a medium blue. The worst the black will ever do is fade to dark charcoal. The $100 is just icing on the cake.

 

Take the money.
I paid $50 extra for GREY when I had my RhinoLiner sprayed. They did the grey.
I am happy.

Take the $100 and be happy.

My Rhino is nearly 1/2 in thick on the bottom of the bed! I would not want anybody trying to remove it.

nomo: The colored liner was the same price as the black. They have a series of colors all at the same price
