I hate to bump such an old thread, but these instructions helped me do this job on my truck.

However, now I'm having a bit of a problem. The steering is still just as loose, and the lower shaft has a lot of wiggle room on that upper shaft. Almost like the pinch bolt isn't pinching. It's very tight too. I'm not able to find the part number or name for that upper steering shaft that connects to the wheel. Anyone have any ideas on where to get that part and how to replace it?

Or, anyone have any ideas on how to get that top bolt a little bit tighter to hopefully take some of that play out?

Rachet strap

Husband attached a rachet strap to the lower section of the steering arm and then to bumper hitch of our other truck and ratched it off. For the top he placed a 2X4 across the hood so it was wedged in then hooked ratch strap to upper part of arm and again ratched it off. Worked great, with no issues.
