Looks like a very nice installation.

Wondering if the module will lose programming if *not* wired to a constant 12VDC.

I would want it powered by accessory power so if it's inoperable by someone breaking into the vehicle, as my truck is often parked outside the garage.

Thank you for the compliment.

Good point about the security of having it on a constant circuit. Anything can happen anywhere, but I'm not too concerned in my neighborhood, and I've switched to this from a remote clipped to the visor.

I don't believe they lose programming during a power loss. I know the homelink in the mirror in my 350z did not lose programming when I changed the starting battery a while back.

I'll probably hunt down a tan bezel for the buttons next time I'm at the pick-n-pull. All of them I saw in tan were coated in cigarette smoke this time around. In addition to the usual "bad engine", "bad transmission", and such written on the windows I even came across a Lincoln with "Ants!" written on it. I didn't bother with that one.

I think the black looks fine, but if it's simple enough to swap out later, why not?

Wise choice!

How do you get the console down? Mine feels really snug and don't see any screws. Don't want to break anything, but would like to throw a H/L in that location.
Thanks!

I didn't take many pictures, but it pretty much goes in the same way OP did his. The little filler plate comes out after removing the map light. Both are held with torx screws. I had to break all the tabs off of the homelink module to get it to fit, and a few tabs that appeared to be useless in the overhead console. The filler plate is way too thick, I spent a good 10-15 minutes with a dremel type tool thinning down the entirety of space the module occupies, being careful not to ding up the outside of the plate.

I also found that the forward most terminal on the dome light is 12V+ all the time, and the second contact is ground. I don't know what the gold traces are coated with, but they take solder very well. I soldered my connections to the dome light assembly so there would be nothing to fight or cut if I need to remove the console again.

As few pics:
