Can idiots wire this? I'd love to do this when I get some free time, but wiring anything scares the crap outta me. :o

um yes you can wire it take the red wire from the led and tie it in with the green wire on the factory turn signal, and take black one and tie it to the black one

my first mod

Did this on my week old 2010 Platinum Screw. Absoultely the best mod I saw. Everything went off as instructed. Even got the exact same LEDS at autozone. Here are some observations I made (possibly already covered).

1. My drivers mirror had a thin silicone adhesive holding the mirrors on with the clips. Scared me when I heard the adhesive stretching away. None on the pass mirror...go figure?

2. I could not get the heating wires off the mirror to save my life. It was stretching the contacts, so I let it dangle the whole time.

3. The wire coming out of the led had a huge black shrinkwrap end, so I had to bevel the inside of the black mirror cover with the dremel to get the reflector to lay flat like original.

4. On a scale of mechanical ability I would consider myself an amateur with the dexteriry of a gorilla. So I was really scared prying the mirror off, but with a little patience and some really good lighting the whole project took me less than 2 hours. After doing one, I would easily get that down to an hour on a second install (now that I know what to expect)

Anyways, thanks again for this wonderful mod. The led selection was perfect the illumination they throw is easily three times as bright as the other mirror signal indicators. My F150 has the new ambient lighting so it fits the theme perfectly. Now I want to install something similiar under the entire 5.5' of bedrails that is triggered by the rear cargo light. Anyone done this or want to lead the way?

Cool, shouldn't be a problem then. When I get some time I'll give 'er a shot. I also have some leftover cans of night shade from a previous mod. I think I'll give the reflectors a few light hits for the heck of it.

Here is a picture with the amber LEDs. I went with amber to take some of the edge off and make it more subtle. I have not personally seen one done in white but from the pictures there does not appear to be much difference.

Flimsy Wiring on Mirrors

I wrapped the glass with cardboard and used a piece of duct tape to fasten it to the top of the door panel.......wiring connectors looked hokey and didnt want to risk disconnecting them.

This is freakin sweet. I did it to my 2 week old f15o. I really think ford will pick this up. Too bad we could make some money on these. I have two 9 LED pieces I cut, just didn't solder any wires to them.

Cool idea. I just purchased my first Ford F-150, 2010. I have been searching around for some mods I could do and this caught my eye. Took about 1.5 hrs, and turned out great. Thanks for the info... It is a different world driving a Ford, I have had 6 Dodge Diesels and decided to go gas burner. 1800 Miles and No regrets....

The directions seem to indicate that you need a soldering gun to attach wires to the LED strip. Is this true? I don't have a soldering gun and would love to do this mod.

I actually thought these reflectors were turn signals like my wife has on her Acura TSX and I had on my 2008 Subaru Outback. Didn't realize they weren't until a couple of days after I bought the truck.

No solder gun required just go to autozone and get some T-taps or just splice the wire and wire them up and tape them good

You could swap to the newer mirrors. I know a few people on here have.
