Just pry the unit off the back of the mirror and not the smaller assembly on the under-side and you'll be ok. There are basically 4 clips at the "corners" holding the mirror to the housing. Pry in the right area and it'll come off without much effort. Pry in the wrong area and you'll have to put a little force. If it breaks, you'll be out $31 at the dealer (unless you can get them to replace under warranty like they did for me).

You'll be fine! Its such a cheap mod.

I have gotten some request for better pics of the tab and removal area for taking the mirror off.

Here are some, it is very hard to get a good pic. I hope this helps.

If you don't like the reflectors they do have black blocks that replaces the reflector and just make the backing black. Do a search on the site a few members have done this

Looks great!! How did you secure the L.E.D.'s into the reflecter? This should have been a standerd option from Ford.

The LED strips have an adhesive tape on the back of them. They stick to mirror.

tbraquet, thanks for the pics of the tabs on the mirror. Still looks like there's a good chance I'll break something. You ever travel to Knoxville, TN? Haha.

If your screw driver is pressing against the actual mirror to release it from the housing, you're doing it right. Push down on your mirror and you'll see that tab, its pretty apparent.

I bombed it because I assumed the mirror held on like 3 Grand Prix's I owned (swapped out mirrors for kwmuth signal mirrors). I was wrong and broke it but it was totally my fault.

Just to clarify, there are 4 tabs per side, correct? You have to get to each of them, or once you get one done, you can get the mirror off? I'm having a hard time seeing in the pics and what I see on my truck.

Thanks for all the encouragement!
