How to install L 3rd brake light
How to install L 3rd brake light
anybody have a link to instructions or whatever? i heard you hvae to pull the headliner down? what all needs to be done to do that? thanks
First unscrew the light and pull it out as far as you can. If you've got a flashlight you should be able to see where the plug is located. Its attached to some sort of clip under the headliner. Gently pull the headliner back, being careful not to crease it. Follow the wire back with your fingers until you find the aforementioned clip. You'll have to jiggle the whole thing loose. Once you get it loose pull the light the rest of the way out until you see where it plugs in. Then just swap the L light in by plugging it in and replacing the two screws. Only tough part is getting the clip loose. Just be patient and you won't ruin your headliner. Good luck!
Also, don't worry about getting the plug back onto the clip once the new light is installed. I didn't and you can't tell at all. Hope this helps.

Just like Aggie said... it's a little difficult but, you can do it.
I had to have my wife come out there (smaller hands) to reach back in there to get a hold of the cord for the brake light.
G'LUCK, msg me if you have any questions...

Harley#356: I had the same problem when I installed the Lightning light on my 00. Got the bright idea of putting a blanket over the cover for protection, but kept sliding off, and finally just took my shoes off and sat on the cover. Looks & works good.
with my cover separating, i don't think that would be avery good idea for me to do
I'm only 160 lbs, but don't want to risk it
when my truck was at the dealership when the forgot to plug the 3rd brakelgiht back in after they replaced the rear window seal, i watched how he did it, so i'll give it a try that way adn see how it works out. if not, i'll get my funny ladder out and straddle the bed of teh truck with it and hopefully that will work. if anybody's in construction, you'll know what kind of ladder i'm talking about. LoL
thanks for the help. It should get here this week sometime
