Westin Oval Tube Steps & Nerf Bars

I've installed a set of Westin Oval Tube cab steps on my '02 F-150 Flareside. I'm a bit worried because they don't seem to be mounted solid. I'm 175#s and when I step on them, something is flexing. I'm not sure if it's the brackets themselves or the inside of the rocker. There is only two brackets on each side, whereas the OEM steps seem to have three or four. I'm speculating that the rocker is flexing a bit. The driver side is a bit worse, but does get the most use. Is there a trick to mounting these things or is some play to be expected? I did notice a "kink" noise when I stepped on them too. I loosened everything up and re-tightened. The noise went away, but they still seem to move more than they should.

Any ideas or advice?

Thanks,

Matt

Are they mounted to the body or to the frame?

I have those same bars. I looked forever at the mounting brackets, as they are marked crappy. I put them on wrong the first time and they didn't work that great. They are on there now and can hold my big old 225 butt and not move at all.

I've got the Westin's on my SuperCrew, and they flex very little if at all when I step on them with my 220 pounds. Check your install.
