Thumbs up

The red clear is one part of a two can system for colorizing engine parts, made by Duplicolor. I think the name is "Metal Cast" I bought it to do some engine parts, and thought about it while I was painting the *****. I believe it comes in red, blue, yellow, and green(not 100% sure on the green, though). The paint on the ***** is also Duplicolor, brilliant silver and clear from the small factory match cans.,,,,98

98,
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you have WAY too much time on your hands...
That said, nice mod...

I don't mean to be a copycat....well maybe I do, but I'm thinking about doing that as well(unless it copywrited), but in a different color...did you have to pull the whole dash off to get to the ***** or can you just pull them right off?

Mine were HARD to pull off, but yes they just pull off. Mine were polished smooth from use. It helps if you wiggle them sideways while you pull. Anyone that feels inclined to do this, go right ahead. I posted it as an idea for a cheap mod only, don't care who uses it,,,,98

The Metal Cast is about 4 or 5 bucks a can, they are the full size cans. The small body color spray cans aren't much at all, about 2 or 3 dollars a can. They are both available at most auto parts stores like Pep Boys or Autozone.,,,98

I roughed mine up a little. You don't have to go crazy on them, even a scotchbrite pad would be enough to hold paint on them. Do light coats on the silver to make sure it doesn't run. The clear, only enough on one coat to make it glossy. I was stuck in a high rise when I did mine, so I used a hairdryer to force dry each coat during the painting. You don't have to do that, but makes it go a little faster. Washing the ***** with dishwashing soap and water helps cut down on oil from your hands, which causes fisheyes. Good luck!!,,,,98

I usually stay away from those "chrome" sprays. They go on VERY heavily, which makes it run unless your real careful. They also only look that good until they dry in my experience. They end up looking kind of cheesy,,,,98
