Tinting Question

I was talking to a friend of mine today about tinting my windows and he suggested getting the spray on tint, or having someone "paint" them. Does anyone know about this, and is it a better way?

Thanks

CJ

I had it years ago. Turned purple. also ran and scraped off when it got wet. I use the film, never had a problem.

go to a professional, not much looks worse or is more visible then a poor quality tint job. Check out examples of their work, the edges should be almost inperceptible with no signs of air bubbles any where (sign that window was not properly cleaned or that install wasn't done in a clean envirnment)

Follow their instructions for care (use of ammonia cleaners such as windex will dis-color the film i many cases)

No I would not even try to do this myself, trust me, I tried to do the side windows about a year ago and it was a joke. I mean I don't do this everyday, and thats what a professional gets paid for. Thanks for your input.

Question tinting and laws

Better check your state laws on tinting. Some states have limits on just how dark the tint can be.

I had mine done by a noted installer locally and it is a very good job. He said the same thing, go with a good installer, use good film (3m or similar) or it will turn purple. Follow the cleaning instructions. Mine has been on for 4 years with no problems.

Most states laws only pertain to the front windows (windshild and front sides). A good installer can advise you on that. Mine are done to the legal limit in front and light limo in the back. Looks good.
