Finally found a tailgate
Finally found a tailgate
As some of you may know, several months ago, I purchased my 99' F-150. I had searched nation wide for several months to find it. When one and I mean only one showed up in Oklahoma, I bought it. For some reason, a 99' or new xlt supercab with all four doors opening in dark wedgewood blue, flareside, with a V8 and low miles, is rare. Anyway, after only about 15 days of ownership, someone stole my locked tailgate!
Last week I finally found one! For some reason it is harder to find a used factory tailgate for a flareside ford. It was $200 plus $75 shipping. It is black, so it will have to be painted, so, since they have to mix the paint to match, I am going to have them paint my front and rear bumpers, and maybe the aftermarket lenscovers. They are either going to swap out the chrome portions or use an acid primer to ensure that the paint does not chip off.
My first set of lens covers were totally black. I could not see well at night, even with the brights on and with the aftermarket 100/80 watt bulbs. So I tried to drill a pattern of small holes in the covers and.....I cracked them! So, I bought another set that had 4 clear holes in the black tint. They work great and give your front end a custom look.
Anyway, the point of my ramblings is to provide the site address for the parts if you need something. The address is
