HIDs

Skicrave, I get mine from a Jon at Autolites in California. He sells the complete HID conversion kits for $455.00. They come all ready to plug in, you get a wiring harness, two transformers and bulbs. You need to mount the transformers near the lights and plug in all the wires. The bulbs come with 9007 adapter rings built on them so they just plug in like a normal halogen.

I always use visa, so I know he accepts that as payment, I'm not sure what else he takes. His cell # is 831 251 LITE if you want more information.

Lightbulb

I purchased a pair of 9007 bulbs from Plasmalights.com. I have been very pleased with the performance of these bulbs. They have a slight blue tint, but produce a bright white light. They sell these on eBay, that's where I purchased mine. I replaced the Sylvania "Cool Blues" on my F150 with the Plasma Lights and I immediately noticed a big difference. They have a "lifetime warranty" on the bulbs. Yes, Phillips/Sylvania is selling an HID conversion kit designed specifically for the F150. However, per their website the cost is around $800.00!

HID replacement and even stock bulbs (in new sports cars) are illegal in California. They are not supposed to be sold in the state but make their way in through various channels.

That is just a warning, they do not bother me at all, and I would not pull you over for them generally either.

yeah, I've never heard of a cop hassle someone for HID. Seeing that a BMW X5 comes factory with lights that look PURPLE when viewed from the side, they really can't bitch much about out white HID lights. I have heard stories about people getting hassled a bit for those rainbow bulbs that make all sorts of colors (blue ion?) but I've yet to see anyone who's actually gotten a ticket for lights.

I live in louisiana i made the name when i was in Cali. If they will give you a ticket for blue bulbs in Louisiana they will give you a ticket for them anywhere.

I take it your a trooper or something well You might not pull someone over for a bull offence like that but the a$$ hole cops will.

Thumbs up PIAA

Go with the PIAA SuperWhites, had them in my last 3 trucks, great lights. After install face a white garage door or wall and check out the pure white glow.

Actually I am an a$$hole cop. In San Francisco to boot, where I have seen quite a few mechanical violations. I will tell you though that most of the time I am way to busy to pull someone over for something small that they do not know about and are not doing anything that warrants it. Now if you give me the international sign for "Officer please pull me over and inspect my car for mechanical violations..."; the middle finger extended and waving with a smile, then of course I have no problem taking time away from eating donuts to oblige.

Personally though I have not made a traffic stop recently for anything less than a "duece" (23152 CVC - DUI).
