He is talking about it not being a mixed clear coat as in buying a pint of clear, buying activator mixing it and spraying it with a paint-gun.

I think the orange deflector in the headlight is a legal thin, needs to reflect headlights from other vehicles from the sides, i wouldnt paint it.

As far as the truck goes...Looks awesome!

True, OR another option would be get clear heads off eBay, paint the housing and leave the reflector alone...i don't know if "candying" the paint on would have a smaller effect on it, BUT i have seen it done before in color....

a rock hit it and it chipped or its peeling? Even if you took it to a pro and got it painted for 300$ or whatever, a chip is a chip. My paint on my hood that is professionally painted chips just as easy as anything on my front end. Rock traveling at 65mph to the paint will chip it no matter what.

Actually, not true. At least not that cut and dry. Especially for plastics which have alot more flex and impact resistance. If the unit is prepped properly, and all the proper adhesion promoters used, and it is sealed, based, and cleared using products that are designed to flex, then the chip factor is DRASTICALLY reduced.
