powdercoating help

Howdy yall , So I'm going to get my rims powdercoated tommorow (machined finish silver 20") to black tommorow but the shop owner told me if I stripped the finish myself it would be much cheaper

He recommended aircraft remover to prep it to be painted ... Has anyone used this before ? Would it be okay for my rims ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I have used it before on rims and it did work well but the weren't machine finish, I would say try a small spot and see how it looks. But if you do the prep work it is much cheaper but you need to make sure its perfect or it really affects the powder coat finish.
