Tires and level question
Tires and level question
I've got an '06 XLT SuperCab with an A.R.E. cap. It's time for new tires and I want to upgrade. My first question is:
1. What is the largest tire I can put on my truck (17" stock wheels) without a lift or leveling kit or any other modifications?
I'm also considering a 2.5" AutoSpring leveling kit, because I love the look. But, after reading various threads on here, I'm worried about my truck's performance being changed. My second question is:
2. Does a 1.5 - 2.5 leveling kit decrease the trucks performance while hauling a trailer? I don't haul a trailer everyday, but when I do, I like a smooth ride. I'm not worried about loosing a couple mpg's--just performance.
Thanks for any help y'all can offer.

I have 33x12.5/20 on my unleveled 07 4wd, no rubbing. Had this exact pkg on my 04 4wd with 2" bilstien leveling, it rubbed while reversing. Go figure lol.
The leveling wont decrease mpg or harm anything except your ball joint angles and that is if the kit is too large such as 3". Unless you get an air bagged rear suspension and an add-a-leaf spring setup it may droop a little in rear and the front will remain higher.

You can go with a 285x70x17 on a stock height 4x4. With the cap and a trailer hooked up a 1- 1/2 inch leveling kit may be best. Not too much decrease in performance or mileage with these tires or the leveling kit.
Hey guys, thanks for the help. I added a 2" Auto Spring leveling kit along with some Cooper STT's. They are size 285/70/17 (33's). Check out my garage for some new photos. I love the look and have no rubbing issues. I bet 35's would even fit if someone wanted a beefier look.
