Anyone buy stuff on Ebay?

Been looking at a black billit grille for my truck and I found a company (with good reviews) that is selling a grill almost HALF what I can get it for from someplace like StylinTrucks...I am worried about bad products..especialy with this black grill that the "black" might flake off...
Anyone care to share there experience to make me feel better about it??

If it's the exact same part number and brand of grille that you could get off ST then why not go for it? If not then it's a crap shoot.

You say they've got good feedback? You might want to read thru them to see if
they sold grills to anybody else and what the opinions were. That could be a start and might give you something to go on.

I can understand the saving money and can't blame you. I'm really at a loss as
what to do.

As far as EBay goes... I have bought a ton of stuff from there. I only had one problem with a GPS I never recieved but one phone call to the EBay folks and they gave me my money back.

Just do enough reasearch and ask them enough questions until you are happy.

Good Luck

If they have 100% feedback with lots of products I would say you're golden. Any less and do your homework. If they have had one feedback negative and 999 positive feedbacks in the past year thats perfectly fine. Also reading the negative feedback says a lot. BTW Ive bought off of ebay tons of times and Ive never had any problems as long as Ive made sure the seller had good feedback beforehand.

Be sure to check out their return policy. I only buy from venders with returnable goods, Also with hold your feed back until you have a chance to inspect your purchase. Sellers really hate negative feed back. If your not satisfied contact the seller to work out the return and again with hold the feed back untill all is done.

Ebay is great, just be smart read the feedback and check the return policy. The vendors on ebay care alot about their feedback and they will usually go miles to make sure your happy to keep that positive ratting up.

I believe that vendors on ebay get cheaper fees if they have a high rating, so there is incentive for them to keep customers happy.

My brother bought me a black billet grille off ebay and it looks great. Installed it this past week. Looks really nice. Seems to be high quality.

I've purchased tons o stuff off ebay over the past 14 years from auto parts to computers and had only two problems. In both cases Paypal refunded my money. All of the above advice is correct - read the feedback - even if not on the product you want it will give you a profile of the way the seller does business. Negative feedback, if there, gives you a chance to see how they respond to unhappy customers. Also see if your purchase is covered by any of ebay or paypal's payment protection programs, they're very good as are their Square Trade warranties which likely don't apply to your purchase. You can also contact the seller and ask a question - so ask them outright how many of those grills they've sold and what, if any, reports they've had of the black flaking off or other problems. Could be they haven't sold that many and don't have a broad experience with the product in which case you're on your own best judgement.

I've bought several hundred things off Ebay. Extra docking stations and modulators for my SkyFis and an extra boom box, and several came with the SkyFi that the owners threw in. Cameral lenses, a Nikon DSLR recently, Homer Laughlin china for the wife, car parts, parts for the MCs, truck items, tint, .... all kinds of stuff over the last 10 or 11 or so years and only one "not great deal" and it even worked out OK.

I came upon a 351M / 400 4WD Oil Pan and it had a picture of the correct oil pan. It was a great buy, so I grabbed it up. Got the pan, it was a 2WD version. I contacted the seller, he appologized, had several 351m / 400 pans and sold them all and this was one of them and he said he thought he sent me the 4WD one. He offered to send my money back through PayPal and told me to keep the pan ... so it's on a motor on the stand.

Research the seller, but also remember that everyone starts out at the first with one sale.

I use PayPal.
