I agree John but correct me if i'm wrong i heard with due time the clear vinyl protection that goes on the bumpers, doesn't that bake onto the bumper after a long time??

at this point i think the most valueable thing to do is find a good painter and hope that they seal and repaint it the way it ought to be, or i'll have to buy a gun myself and do it, just like canadianelbow stated the process should be done, i'm not scared of a lil DIY work, i have the crashed bumper to practice on

Powder coat the bumper and just be done with it.

If he was powder coating black, that would be a great solution. The costs to get a color match in powder coat are out of this world. If he wants the same color, p/c is out of the question.

My powder coater said he could do my bumper to match for $200 which is not bad call around for prices.

it ain't bad but would powder coating maintain the same finish as paint?

Definitely heck a lot of custom motorcycle builders powder coat the frames of bikes

The powdercoat companies in my area all had the same answer. If I was willing to pick between the 7 or 8 blues that they had in stock, then yes, it's inexpensive. If I wanted a true color match, and they had to create the color, it was an extra 500, on top of the normal charge. I painted mine.

I've heard of people being unhappy with the powder coating... Fish Chris didn't like how his faded so he used bedliner recently to re do them.

The vinyl won't bake on, it's just an adhesive. My dad had a sign/truck lettering/ pinstriping shop for many years, you just heat it to take it off.

hmm i see about the powdercoating, and yea bud your right about the vinyl i think thats my best option at this point, and just for kicks i may stick around and watch the painter do my bumper this time around, or atleast make them document it with photos

Yeah the painted bumpers are a pain in the ***, they take so much abuse, so glad I have chrome

yes they are!! i woulda stuck painted anyways, if i do buy a diesel in the future that one gets chrome bumpers lol
