Window Tinting
Window Tinting
Hey boys! I'm about to darken my windows. I was going to put up 10 percent all the way around (excluding the front windshield) on top of my factory tint. I was wondering how strict law enforcement is on tint laws. I don't want to put it on if I get stopped every time I leave my house. Thanks guys!.... Also, if you think that's too dark I am open to opinions. I don't want people to be able to see me very well. But my priority is safety, so I need to be able to see out a little bit.
10% is going to make it very difficult to back up at night. I had 5% on all 3 windows on my regular cab ranger, and got several tickets for it. Every spot check I got pulled in and given an extra look. On my '10 screw, I added 35% on just the front windows, and left the back windows with just the dark factory tint. In the year and a half I've owned it, I have never been stopped, not once. Night time reversing is still a bit sketchy if there are no street lights, but alot better than with the dark tint.

smart people will look before they start backing if you have dark windows so they already know whats back there then you can open your door and lean outside to see if you want to just in case. i noticed you are from OKC. im not sure on how the local law enforcement is there but i know the highway patrols in oklahoma do not really care. i've traveled all over northeastern OK and have never been pulled over once. my tint goes as followed: windshield = 50% over 50% with 5% brow, side windows = 30% over 5%, and the back window = 5% over factory privacy glass.

i have only helped since im friends with my tint guy. but as long as your steady with a razor, have patience, and dust free area there's no reason why you shouldnt try.
I have 2% over factory on the back three and have no problem backing up and night I just use my side mirrors because the back window is useless its too dark but looks good. I had the fronts done at 2% but got pulled over everyday so I just gave up and run not tint up front since we arent allowed anything thing in BC...

sweet ill try it out
I tried tinting my own once. I'm a licensed bodyman, and very **** about the end result of my work. The finished product was not good enough, and I ripped it all off and took it to a guy who does it for a living. If you are looking for anything even close to perfect, save your time, and money, and just pay the guy to do it the first time. If you don't really care, and are ok with imperfect, and flawed, try it out.I'll bet that your first attempt will look good from 30 feet away, and extremely amateur from 3 inches away. They call those guys pro's for a reason. They make it look easy.... it really is not. Not to get it perfect anyways. Anyone who claims to have done a perfect job on their first attempt is either lying, or has really low standards.
I wasted my money buying the tint to attempt it myself. Lesson learned.

}As for backing up at night.... yea, a little bit of a PITA, especially if your towing a boat ! But 99.99% of my driving is done moving forward. And I've never backed into anything, so it's doable, if you are careful.

Tinting the windows yourself is a terrible idea... I did it on my Crapalier, because it is a $350 car and I didn't want to pay somebody to do it. If you care about how your truck looks and want it done right without any bubbles, marks, or dust in the tint, take it to a pro.
I have no idea what % it is, its 2 layers of 5% and 15% so whatever that is equal to is what I got...

I have tinted windows on my trucks before with really good luck and very little lint or dust between the tint and glass you just have to prep the glass well and take your time. I have also gone as far as to remove the glass from the truck if at all possible and lay it on a work bench or counter on a towel. I am looking at a pre-cut kit off of E-Bay for my truck from these guys.
