Actually used it in the bed. Went with two of the 36 oz cans. Medium coats on the sides, heavy coats on the actual bed. I don't throw much in the back of my truck so this could hold up just fine. I did it more for appearance than anything else. Though, my tonneau is normally down.

 

Did you sand it at all? Been toying with doing it on mine since I don't even use my bed

 

Looks good. I did the same with my bed last summer.

 

TruckGuy24, I used 100 grit everywhere. Not down to bare metal, but just to scuff it up and give the bed liner something to grip. Also used primer on the bare bed bolts. I used a paint brush so it took quite some time. Also, when removing the tailgate, I had no idea it was as heavy as it was. The lift assist really does a good job.

Looks really good, just herculined mine like a month ago. I couldn't imagine paying someone over $500 to get this done.

Thanks for posting this. I was just looking at these the other day. It looks pretty clean. Did you sand the bed at all before you sprayed?

 

Very well. I have a BakFlip so the bedliner doesn't get any abuse from weather. I also put indoor/outdoor carpet on the bed, king of a home made bedrug. The sides of the bed and tailgate are really the only parts that get any abuse but the bedliner has held up very well.

For prep I sanded everywhere with a power sander and cleaned it very well with acetone. The acetone helped strip the paint that was left over after sanding and seemed to really help.

I'll get some photos next week when my girlfriend is back from visiting her family.

So far so good. I loaded a few things in the bed that were sliding around and it dint scratch it at all. I had some metal car ramps in the back as well. The only thing that chipped it where the tailgate and rubber pieces on the side meet. My fault for closing the tailgate before it had enough time to fully dry. Easy touch up.
