Nite Shading tails...

Im about to try DarrenWS6's write up on painting the inside of the tail light housing. Found here - https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...4-08-f150.html

I also would like to get the tails a little darker than just the HD style. Now, I've read several write ups on Nite Shading the tails with clear coat and not. So this got me thinking, what would it look like if I lightly Nite Shaded the inside of the tail light lense instead of the outside? Reason being, it would still leave the glossy apperance without clear coating and worrying about peeling and chips. Only thing Im worried about is the reflective properties of the lense after I do this.

Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts?
Thanks.

dont nite shade the inside of the lenses. it wont let the light threw. but if you take ur time and do multi layers of nite shade and layer of clear coat and wet sand and polish it will be super shiney and let a lot of light in.

I already tried smoking the inside of a light. It seized the use of the reflectors, which is very illegal. I ended up smoking a set of Harley tails lightly and it did look good. Will lost pics when I get home.

Thanks for the replies panda and Darren. I already have the tails painted, sealed up and installed, so I might try smoking the outside later. Great write up Darren, sure helped. Would be interested to see the pics of your smoked harley tails.

Been asked before as well, though not nearly the same amount as just NS threads in general
