Tail Lights

Ok so im not sure if this is the correct place for this question but what im wondering is about my tail lights. I rem back when i was younger the big thing was smoked head and tail light covers. Well what im wondering is if it's legal to get my tail lights covered WHITE and still be use full at night. Is their a product out there and if so will i get in trouble using them on street or are they for show only? Also, where is everyone finding the led type lights for my body style truck 01screw 4x4?
One last question, the HID conversions 10 or 12k for my truck, i've seen them on HIDNATION and other places and im curious of what all i would need and how hard they are in install?

Thanks again for anyone who reads my ramble and helps me. THANKS THANKS

white is basically show only as light doesnt pass through as well. try ebay for the led turn signals. 10k will be blue and 12k will be more of a ultra violet. drop in hid kits are hazardour to other drivers and you will get criticized it for it. i personaly will never go over 8k from now on. the blue is more of fad and after 8k visibility dramatically decreases. theres a million write ups about hid kits on here if you will just search, it'll make your life a lot easier

Tickets here at the very least and I have seen them towed where the reflectors as well were not visable at night, just call a wrecker and have it removed from the road.
